Dispatch strategies

Last updated: August 4, 2026

A dispatch strategy is a named ruleset that controls how your orders are dispatched to providers. You build the ruleset once and reuse it wherever it's needed — directly on an order, or applied automatically by a workflow.

Find dispatch strategies at Orchestrate → Dispatch Strategies. Each strategy configures provider selection and routing rules across three sections.

Provider Selection

Choose which providers a strategy is allowed to use and how it picks between them — for example by lowest cost, most reliable, fastest, a manual ranking you define, or a weighted distribution across your list.

Delivery Fees

Set the price you're willing to pay for deliveries dispatched under this strategy.

Rules

Rules define the behavior and requirements that apply once a strategy is in use. This covers things like auto-dispatch (sending a delivery to a provider automatically as soon as it's created, or relative to pickup time), auto-reassignment (moving a delivery to the next eligible provider if it's canceled or not picked up in time), and provider or vehicle requirements (restricting eligibility to providers that meet criteria you set, like package or vehicle capabilities).

Activate and deactivate a strategy

A strategy only takes effect once it's active. Activate a strategy to put it to work; deactivate it to pause it without deleting your configuration. To bring a paused strategy back, activate it again.
