Configure order map display fields
Last updated: October 2, 2026
Display fields are the extra details your team sees on the Orders map — a customer reference, a tag, a piece count — beyond what every order card already shows. You choose which details appear, what they're called, and whether they show on order cards, next to pins on the map, or both.
The choice is shared: what you save applies to everyone in your organization. For the map itself, see work with orders and routes on the map.
Note
Only Owners and Admins can change display fields. Everyone else sees the result but doesn't have the Display fields option.
Open the editor
- On the Orders page, select Map.
- On the map, open Tools and select Display fields.
A panel opens with a Live preview at the top and your list of fields below it. The preview uses a real order from the map, so load a route or some orders first if it says there's nothing to preview.
Add a field
- Select Add field.
- Choose a Source — where the value comes from: - Metadata — a key from the order's metadata. - Order details — a built-in value: item count, volume, external ID, reference ID, description, or tags. - Tags — a tag on the order.
- Choose the Field key. The list suggests keys found on the orders currently loaded on the map; you can also type one that isn't listed.
- Type a Label — the name your team will see next to the value.
- Choose a Format: Text, List, Number, Pounds, or a volume in ft³, m³, or cm³. The volume formats expect the underlying value to be in cm³.
Each field needs a label, and the same source and key can't be added twice.
Choose where each field shows
Every field has two checkboxes:
- Card — show it on order cards: in the orders list, on the stops of a route card, and in the order popup.
- Map — show it as a label next to the order's pin or route stop.
You can put up to two fields on the map. Once two are ticked, the Map checkbox is unavailable on the rest until you untick one. A field can be on cards, on the map, both, or neither.
When at least one field is set to show on the map, the map's Layers menu gains an Order labels switch, so each person can hide the labels when the map gets crowded.
Reorder, remove, and hide empty values
- Use the up and down arrows on a field to change its position. Fields appear on cards and labels in the order you set here.
- Select the trash icon to remove a field.
- Hide empty values leaves a field off any order that has no value for it. Untick it to keep the field visible with a dash, which makes gaps easier to spot.
Save
Watch the Live preview as you go — it shows the card and the map label for a sample order with your current choices. Select Save to apply them, or Cancel to leave things as they were. The change takes effect for everyone in your organization.
Good to know
- If your organization had already chosen fields to show when reviewing an optimization, the map starts with those on cards until an Owner or Admin saves a set here.
- Item count and volume already appear on order cards when an order has them. If you add either as a display field, your version replaces the built-in one rather than showing twice.
- Labels on the map appear on individual pins and stops. Pins merged into a numbered cluster stay unlabeled until you zoom in.
