Work with orders and routes on the map
Last updated: October 2, 2026
The Orders page has a map view that puts your routes and your unrouted orders in one place. You can see where everything is, select orders and route stops by clicking or by drawing around them, and add orders to a route, move stops between routes, or take an order off a route — without going back to the table.
Note
The map is part of the Orders page for everyone. Changing routes from it — adding, moving, and removing orders — depends on routes being turned on for your organization and on your role allowing route changes. Availability varies by organization — reach out to Nash for access.
Open the map
Select Map in the Orders page toolbar. The same button reads Table while you're on the map and takes you back. The Routes tab has its own Map button that opens the same view.
The map opens with a list on the left and the map on the right:
- The list has two tabs, Routes and an orders tab (it starts as Unassigned orders), each with a count and a search box. The map always opens on Routes.
- Hide list / Show list in the toolbar gives the map the full width.
- The date range in the toolbar applies to the map the same way it does to the table.
- Every time on the map is shown in one timezone, named at the top of the page. It starts as your organization's timezone. To change it, select the globe button in the toolbar — it shows the current timezone's abbreviation — and pick another one, or pick Use organization timezone to go back. Date ranges like today or this week follow the timezone you pick, and the same choice applies to the Orders table.
Choose what the map shows
Open Layers on the map to switch what's drawn:
- Routes — each route as a colored line with its stops. On by default.
- Orders — a pin for each order's dropoff. It's off until you turn it on or open the orders tab in the list. Underneath it, a menu picks which orders you see: Unassigned, Needs Attention, Ready to Dispatch, Dispatched, or All orders. The orders tab in the list is renamed to match.
- Customers — see view customers on the map.
- Order labels — shows or hides the extra details next to pins. It only appears if your organization has chosen fields to show on the map — see configure order map display fields.
Pins that sit close together merge into a numbered cluster; zoom in to split them apart. While the Orders layer is on, a pill at the bottom of the map counts the orders in view. Select it to see how many are in this map area, loaded on the map, and matching your filters. If it says Partial, not every matching order is on the map yet — use Load more orders.
Read an order card
Each order in the list — and in any popup on the map — is a card showing:
- The customer or business name and the dropoff address.
- The delivery window. When the window is within two hours of closing, the card adds a highlighted Window closes in… countdown; once it has passed, Window has closed.
- A Needs Attention badge, only on orders that need a fix before they can go out. Orders in any other status carry no badge.
- Pieces, volume, and requirements, when the order has them.
- The route and stop number, if the order is already on a route.
- The order ID, plus any display fields your organization has added.
Select the ⋮ button on a card to open the order's popup: pickup and dropoff addresses and windows, package details, tags, when the order was last updated, and whether it's Unassigned or Assigned to route. From the popup you can Add to route, Move to route, Remove from route, or View order to open the full order.
Read a route
Hover over a route's line to see a small summary: the route's name, its stop count, the driver and vehicle, the planned or drive time, and the distance. It's read-only and disappears when you move off the line.
The route's card in the Routes list carries the same numbers along with its assignment and actions. Select Show Stops on a card to list its stops in visit order, with the orders at each one. Pickup stops start collapsed to a single line with their order count — select one to see its location, its timing, and the orders collected there.
Use Sort in the toolbar to order the Routes list by Date created, Route ID, boxes, distance, duration, or stops.
Focus one or several routes
Focusing a route hides the others, so you can see one run — or compare a few — without the rest of the day in the way.
- Click a route's line on the map to focus that route. Click it again to clear the focus.
- Shift+click a route's line to add it to the focus, or to take it back out. This is how you focus several routes at once.
- Click route cards in the list to add or remove them from the focus — no Shift needed.
The map reframes to fit the focused routes, and a chip in the top corner names the route (or shows how many are focused). Select the ✕ on the chip to clear the focus and bring every route back.
With several routes focused, the chip can also carry a menu to Resequence or Calculate Timing for all of them in one go. Availability of that menu varies by organization — reach out to Nash for access.
Filter the routes
Open Tools on the map, then Filters. The number next to Filters counts the filters in effect. There are three kinds:
- Route metrics — select Add condition to show only routes above or below a number of Boxes, Stops, Distance, or Duration. Routes that are missing the number a condition needs are set aside, and the list tells you how many.
- Vehicle Type, Vehicle, Driver, and Provider — tick the values you want. Each value shows how many routes carry it, and a search box narrows long lists. A group only appears when at least one route has a value for it.
- Orders — the same filters the Orders table has. Anything you set on the table is already applied here, and the other way around.
Filters narrow both the Routes list and the lines on the map, and a focused route that a filter hides drops out of the focus. Each section has its own clear control. If your filters leave the Routes list empty, Clear filters in the list resets all of them.
Select orders and stops
You can select two things on the map: unassigned orders that are Ready to Dispatch, and dropoff stops on routes that haven't been dispatched. There are three ways to do it.
Click. Click an order pin or a route stop to select what's there; click again to deselect. Selected pins are labeled with the count. Hold Shift while you click to open a list of what's at that spot instead of selecting it.
Tick. In the orders tab, tick the checkbox on any order, or use Select All on a city group. On a route card, select Show Stops and tick the stops you want.
Draw. Open Tools, then Select area, and pick a tool:
- Lasso — drag a freehand loop around the orders or stops.
- Polygon — click to add corners, then click the first corner again to close the shape.
- Pan — puts the map back to normal dragging.
Everything selectable inside the shape is added to what you've already selected, so you can draw more than once to build up a selection. While a tool is active it shows as a chip on the map; press Esc or select the chip to cancel. Drawing only picks up what's loaded and drawn on the map, so turn on the layer you need first.
Tip
When more orders match than you've selected, a Select all … orders button appears on the map. Use it to act on every matching order, not only the ones you picked.
Add orders to a route
With one or more unassigned orders selected, the same actions bar you get on the table appears at the bottom — see bulk dispatch orders for everything on it. To put the orders on an existing route:
- Select Add to route on the actions bar. For a single order, you can use Add to route in its popup instead.
- The list is replaced by a route chooser. Nearby routes shows routes with a stop close to the order; All routes shows every route for the date and filters you have set. You can also search by route, courier, or vehicle, or by an order that's already on the route — searching switches you to All routes. Any route you had focused on the map is pinned to the top of both tabs with a Focused on map badge, and if you had just one focused, it's already chosen.
- Pick the route — from the chooser, or by clicking its line on the map — and select Add to route to confirm.
Until you pick a route, the map shows only the routes on the tab you're looking at, so you can compare the candidates in place.
Routes that are already dispatched or archived are listed as unavailable and can't take more orders.
If your organization's planning setup defines what each vehicle can carry, the chooser checks the selected orders against it:
- Nearby routes leaves out a nearby route when another one is a better fit for what the orders require. A line above the list says how many nearby routes were hidden.
- A listed route whose vehicle falls short is tagged Can't carry, followed by what it's missing.
- All routes never hides a route for this reason, so you can still choose a tagged route if you need to.
Routes without that setup aren't checked, so you won't see any of this unless your organization uses it.
Move stops to another route
- Select the stops you want to move — by clicking, ticking, or drawing.
- A bar on the map shows how many route stops are selected. Select Move to route.
- Choose the destination route and confirm with Move to route. The chooser is the same one you get when adding orders — the Nearby routes and All routes tabs, search, and your focused routes pinned to the top.
Moved stops are placed at the end of the destination route, just before its end point. Afterward, check the order of stops and refresh the route's timing — if the card says its times are out of date, select Recalculate. See edit a route for reordering stops and the other route actions.
To move a single order, use Move to route in its popup, or in the ⋮ menu next to it on the route card. That menu also has Edit sequencing, which tells the optimizer where the stop belongs the next time the route is resequenced — see edit a route.
If your selection includes unassigned orders as well as stops, Move to route takes both to the route you choose.
Remove an order from a route
Open the order's popup, or its ⋮ menu on the route card, and select Remove from route. Review the summary and confirm, or select Keep on route to back out.
Removing an order doesn't cancel or delete it. It becomes unassigned and goes back to the orders list, where you can add it to another route or dispatch it on its own.
If something isn't available
- You can't select an order. Only unassigned orders that are Ready to Dispatch can be selected. Orders already on a route are moved by their stop instead.
- You can't select a stop, or Move to route is missing. Stops on dispatched or archived routes are locked, and pickup and depot stops can't be selected. Stop selection also needs routes turned on for your organization and a role that can change route assignments.
- A move is blocked. The chooser lists the reason under the confirm button — for example, a route with several pickup stops can't take moved stops, and dispatched orders can't change routes.
- Select area isn't in Tools. It appears when there's something to select: the Orders layer showing Ready to Dispatch orders, or the Routes layer when you're able to move stops.
- The map won't load. The lists keep working — you can still search, open orders, and change routes from them.
