Set your organization defaults

Last updated: October 12, 2026

The General & formatting card on the Preferences page sets the measurement units, date and time formats, and currency your whole organization uses by default. These are the defaults every member starts with — they shape how weights, distances, dates, times, and money are shown across the portal. The same card also sets the date range shortcuts your team sees, when your business day starts, and where maps open.

Find it under Settings ▸ Preferences (/settings/preferences). It's the first card on the page; each card saves on its own.

The card description reads "Set organization defaults for language, timezone, formats, currency, and units."

Note

These are organization defaults. Members can override the formats, units, and date range shortcuts for themselves from their own account. See Personalize your account.

Set your defaults

  1. Go to Settings ▸ Preferences and find the General & formatting card at the top.
  2. Set each field to the value you want (see the table below).
  3. Select Save changes in the card header.

You'll see a "Settings has been updated" confirmation. Only this card is saved — the Branding and Column labels cards below have their own Save buttons.

Note

Save changes stays available even when you haven't changed anything, so you can re-save the current values at any time. It's unavailable only while a field has an error — for example, no date range preset is selected or a map coordinate is out of range.

What you can set

The card groups its controls into Measurement Units, Date & Time, Routing, Currency, and Map Starting Point.

Measurement Units

Configure the default weight, dimension, and distance units for your organization.

Setting Options (default) What it does
Weight: Kilograms (kg) / Pounds (lbs) — (Kilograms) Default weight unit shown across the portal.
Dimension: Centimeters (cm) / Inches (in) — (Centimeters) Default dimension unit.
Distance: Kilometers (km) / Miles (mi) — (Kilometers) Default distance unit.

Date & Time

Configure the default timezone, date format, and time format for your organization.

Setting Options (default) What it does
Timezone: Full time zone list — (your browser's time zone) Default time zone used when displaying dates and times.
Date Format: MM/DD/YYYY, DD/MM/YYYY, YYYY-MM-DD, DD.MM.YYYY, MMM D YYYY, MM/DD/YYYY HH:mm — (MM/DD/YYYY) Default date format. Each option previews today's date so you can see the result.
Time Format: 24-hour format / 12-hour format with AM/PM — (12-hour format with AM/PM) Default time format.
Business Day Starts At: Midnight (default), or any hour from 05:00 to 22:00 — (Midnight (default)) When a "day" begins on the Deliveries and Orders tabs. More below.
Date Range Presets: One checkbox per shortcut — (Today, Yesterday, Tomorrow, This week) The shortcuts offered in every date range picker. More below.

Business day start. If your operation runs past midnight, set Business Day Starts At: to the hour your day actually begins. Days on the Deliveries and Orders tabs then run from that time to the same time the next day, in the time zone each table is set to. With a 05:00 start, for example, Today covers 05:00 today to just before 05:00 tomorrow, and a delivery at 02:00 counts toward the previous day.

This applies to the date range shortcuts, to days you select on the calendar, and to the date range of an export you start from the Deliveries tab. Start and end times you type into a custom range are kept exactly as entered. When a start other than midnight is set, the date range picker on those tabs shows a Days start at caption with the time, so your team can see why a day doesn't begin at midnight.

Leave it on Midnight (default) and nothing changes. Other pages keep midnight-to-midnight days.

Date range presets. The checkboxes next to Date Range Presets: choose which shortcuts appear in every date range picker in the portal — on the Orders and Deliveries pages, and wherever else you pick a range, such as an export. Check any of Today, Yesterday, Tomorrow, This week, Last week, Next week, Last 7 days, Next 7 days, This month, Last month, and Next month. Until you change it, your organization gets Today, Yesterday, Tomorrow, and This week.

  • At least one shortcut must stay checked — otherwise you'll see "Select at least one preset" and can't save.
  • Custom range is always available in the picker, whatever you check here.
  • A saved view that uses a shortcut you've since removed keeps working. The picker shows it as the Current saved range instead of a row in the list.
  • Members can swap this list for their own from their account — see Personalize your account.

For how the picker itself works, see Customize your views.

Routing

Shown only if your organization has routes turned on. Routing UI: sets the layout everyone sees when they open Routes: Cards (the default, route cards beside the map) or Grid (route and stop grids beside the map). See Plan routes in the Grid view.

Currency

Configure the default currency for your organization. The selector is set to USD by default. Pick your organization's currency from the list.

Map Starting Point

Where maps open by default across the portal, such as when drawing a zone or placing a pin. Enter the Latitude and Longitude in decimal degrees (for example, 35.7796 and -78.6382) — typically the center of the area you operate in.

The fields start out filled with the point your maps open on today. Latitude must be between -90 and 90 and longitude between -180 and 180; a blank or out-of-range value shows an error under the field and the card can't be saved until you fix it.

About the Language setting

The default portal language for your organization is a Nash-scoped setting — it isn't something you change from this card. If you need your organization's default language changed, reach out to Nash. Individual members can still choose their own portal language from their account; see Personalize your account.

See who changed a preference

Next to the Settings tab that holds the cards, the Preferences page has an Audit log tab: a history of the changes saved on this page — the defaults on this card, plus your branding and column labels — newest first.

Each row shows:

  • Date — when the change was saved.
  • User — who saved it, with their email.
  • Preferences — the settings that changed, named by section and field — for example Portal units › Weight unit.
  • Type — whether the change was Created, Modified, or Deleted.

Filter the list with All types, Created, Updated, or Deleted, or use the search box to find a change by user or setting. Select a row to open its Event Details, which lists each changed field with its previous value and its new one — for example, the weight unit going from kg to lbs.

Note

The Audit log tab appears only if your role includes permission to view audit logs. If you don't see it, ask an admin in your organization — roles are covered in Manage users and roles.
