Rename table columns for your organization

Last updated: August 16, 2026

The Column labels card on the Preferences page lets you rename the columns in the Orders and Routes tables for everyone in your organization. If your team calls a field something specific, you can make the column header match your language.

Find it under SettingsPreferences (/settings/preferences). The card description reads "Rename table columns for everyone in your organization. Leave an organization label blank to use the default."

Note

You'll need organization-management permissions to see and use this card. If you don't have them, the Column labels card won't appear.

What renaming does — and doesn't do

Renaming a column changes the display label only. It applies org-wide, to everyone in your organization. It does not change column ordering, visibility, sorting, filtering, or the underlying data — only the text shown in the column header and the column picker.

Your labels render exactly as you type them, in every portal language. The card shows this reminder: "Organization labels appear exactly as entered in every portal language." A default label is translated to each member's language; an organization label you set is not.

Rename a column

  1. Go to SettingsPreferences and find the Column labels card.
  2. Choose the Orders or Routes tab.
  3. In the row for the column you want to rename, type your name in the Organization label input. Leave it blank to keep the default.
  4. Repeat for any other columns, on either tab.
  5. Select Save label changes.

You'll see a "Column labels updated" confirmation. Both tabs commit together — one Save label changes saves your Orders and Routes changes at once.

Each column row shows the Default label on the left, an arrow, then the Organization label input. A row is marked Customized when it has a saved override, Unsaved while you're editing it, and Default after save when you've cleared an override that hasn't been saved yet.

Tip

Pressing Escape in an input reverts that field to its last saved value.

Find a column

  • Use Search columns to filter the rows by their default label. Select Clear search to reset it.
  • Use the filter toggle to switch between All columns and just your Customized ones.

Restore defaults

  • To clear one column, select the Restore default label button on that row. The input goes back to blank (the default).
  • To clear every override on the active tab at once, select Restore all. A confirmation dialog opens; it notes that nothing changes for members until you select Save label changes, and that the other tab is unaffected.

Both Restore default and Restore all only stage the change — they mark your edits as unsaved. Nothing is applied until you select Save label changes.

Discard unsaved changes

While you have unsaved edits, a Discard button appears. Select it to drop your pending changes and return every label to its last saved value. An unsaved counter shows how many label changes are pending.

Note

If you switch to a different organization while editing, saving is held and you're asked to review the settings for the newly selected organization before saving.

Renamable columns

These are the columns you can rename, with their default labels. The Organization label you enter replaces the default label in the table header and column picker.
