Use short and branded tracking links
Last updated: October 2, 2026
Every delivery gets a tracking link your customer opens to follow it. By default that link is long. Two settings change what it looks like:
- Short tracking links — new deliveries get a short link on Nash's default tracking domain. There's nothing to set up beyond one switch.
- Branded tracking links — new deliveries get a short link on a domain you
own, such as
track.yourbrand.com, after you connect that domain.
Both live in the editor sidebar on the During delivery tab of Engage ▸ Tracking Customization, in their own sections below the page settings. For the rest of that screen, see customize your tracking page.
Note
Availability varies by organization. If you don't see the Short tracking links or Branded tracking links section, reach out to Nash for access — it isn't something you switch on yourself.
Only organization admins and owners can change either setting. Everyone else who can open the page sees the sections read-only.
Unlike the rest of the tracking page, these settings don't wait for Save — each switch and button takes effect as soon as you use it.
Turn on short tracking links
Open the Short tracking links section and turn on Use short tracking links. Where short links can be served, the section shows an Example link you can copy to see the format.
- The change applies to deliveries created after you turn it on. Existing deliveries keep their current links.
- If you turn it off later, links you've already sent keep working.
What the section says depends on how your links are served today:
- If you already use a branded tracking domain, new deliveries already get short links through it. Keeping the switch on means new deliveries still get short links if branded links are turned off or your domain stops serving.
- If your organization uses an older custom tracking URL, links stay long even with the switch on. To get short links, set that domain up as a branded tracking domain instead.
Set up branded tracking links
Branded links put the tracking page on a subdomain you control. You can have one tracking domain per organization.
- Open the Branded tracking links section. Under Custom domain, enter
the subdomain you want to use — for example
track.yourbrand.com— and select Add domain. It has to be a subdomain you control; a root domain on its own isn't accepted. - The section lists the DNS records to create, with a Type, Name, and Value for each and a copy button beside the value. Create those records with your DNS provider exactly as shown. The domain shows a Pending DNS badge while this is outstanding.
- Select Check status. Two checklist rows — Domain ownership and DNS configuration — show Done or Pending, with the time of the last check underneath. DNS changes can take a while to take effect, so check again later if a row is still pending.
- Once both rows are done the badge changes to Active and the section shows an Example link. Turn on Use branded tracking links. Until the domain is active the switch stays disabled, with the hint Finish DNS setup first.
Branded links apply to deliveries created after you turn them on. Links you sent before keep working.
If the domain needs attention
If a domain that was working stops passing its checks, the badge changes to Needs attention and the section shows Your domain stopped serving tracking links, along with the DNS records to fix. While it's in that state, new deliveries use the default tracking link. Correct the records with your DNS provider, then select Check status.
If setup can't be completed and the section shows Setup can't continue, remove the domain and add it again.
Turn branded links off or remove the domain
- Turn off — switch off Use branded tracking links. New deliveries stop getting branded links; links already sent keep working, and the domain stays connected so you can turn it back on.
- Remove — select Remove domain, type the domain name to confirm, and confirm. The domain stops serving immediately, so branded links you've already sent stop working — the dialog estimates how many recent links are affected. New deliveries go back to the default tracking link.
Warning
Removing a domain breaks the branded links customers already have. If you only want to pause branding, turn the switch off instead.
