Batch Job
A Batch Job is a group of packages delivered by the same courier using one provider. Unlike single jobs with just one package, batch jobs comprise multiple packages. This approach enhances delivery efficiency, especially when a merchant has several items for different customers in close proximity. For example, five items ordered from one merchant for delivery in the same area can be consolidated into a single batch job, reducing costs and delivery time.
Delivery
A Delivery object contains crucial information about a delivery's progress, including status, estimated delivery time, courier details, and proof of delivery. This object is created before selecting a quote for a Task and becomes active once a quote is chosen. It allows tracking of package pickup and estimated arrival time for a particular order.
Dispatch Strategy
A Dispatch Strategy is a set of configurations attached to Nash jobs during creation. It enables features like Auto Dispatch, Auto Reassign on Provider Failure, and Auto Reassign based on Pickup/Dropoff Time(s). For instance, you can set up automatic job reassignment if a provider fails to pick up a parcel within a specified timeframe. These strategies minimize manual oversight in job monitoring and modification, particularly useful in high-volume delivery scenarios.
Job
A Job represents the actual delivery process. It contains the package(s) to be delivered, quotes from willing fleets, and the current delivery status if selected. One or more Orders become a Job when dispatched. For example, multiple orders from a single customer can be grouped into one job for efficient dispatch and delivery coordination.
Job Configuration
Job Configuration refers to detailed information included with each job on how the delivery will be executed. It covers dispatch strategy particulars, special instructions, and additional settings governing job management. For instance, it might specify that certain items require temperature control or fragile handling, guiding the dispatch strategy accordingly.
Order
An Order represents the delivery details for package(s) in the real world. It's the most flexible way to create delivery details in Nash, mapping 1:1 to a real-world package. Orders can be created via the Nash Portal, CSV upload, or the Create Order API endpoint. Once defined, an order sets the foundation for tracking and managing the subsequent delivery job.
Package
A Package is a container, like a box, designated for delivery. It may contain multiple items. For example, a delivery box might hold several products ordered together from an electronics store, simplifying the delivery process.
Provider
A Provider is the delivery company responsible for fulfilling your order. This can be an internal fleet or a third-party provider partnered with Nash, such as Stuart, Uber, Ryde, or Gopher. Providers are crucial for efficient delivery execution and maintaining high customer satisfaction.
Quote
A Quote is a pricing estimate for a delivery task. Generated for specific orders or jobs, quotes contain important information like price and provider. Users can create, select, and refresh quotes within the Nash system to ensure they get the best possible delivery rates and options.
Task
A Task is an operational activity within each Job Configuration, involving a set of Quotes and a Delivery object. Creating a new Task solicits quotes from various providers for the delivery. This feature enables streamlined operations and improved decision-making in the dispatch process, allowing merchants to choose the best option based on cost and delivery time.
Understanding these terms will help you navigate Nash's delivery orchestration platform more effectively, empowering you to fully utilize the system's features and optimize your delivery operations.
