Create or Edit Shift Templates
Last updated: April 23, 2025
This guide walks you through the process of creating new shift templates or editing existing ones to automate shift creation.
A template allows for rolling creation of shifts without needing to configure each individual instance of a shift within Nash.
Navigate to Shift Templates
Go to Settings
Select Shifts
Click on Template from the menu at the top
Access Template Creation
You have two options:
To create a new template: Click the New button in the top right-hand corner
To edit an existing template: Click Edit next to the template you wish to update
Configure Basic Template Information
Enter the essential details for your template:
Template name
External ID
Select the days of the week that you would like this template to apply
Define Template Duration
Set the active period for this template:
Start Time - When you would like this template to begin processing
End Time (optional) - When you would like this template to stop processing
Set Creation Cadence
Configure how often the template should be applied:
Define the cadence for how often to apply the template
Set how far into the future to generate shifts
For example: "Each day configure a rolling 2 weeks of vehicle shift templates ahead"
Configure Conflict Handling
Define how conflicts should be handled when the template runs:
Override - Replace existing shifts on that day with information from this template.
Skip - If this option is disabled and the template attempts to create a shift on a day that already has existing delivery shifts defined, it will skip generating shifts for that particular day.
Set Shift Details
Apply the specific details for the shifts this template will create:
Shift start and end times
Status to be created with
Store that the shift applies to
Relevant zones that you would like this particular shift to be eligible for
Any metadata associated with the shift
Save the Template
Once you are satisfied with all settings, click Save to finalize the template.
Shifts will begin to be generated according to the cadence specified in the template.
