Understanding Driver Assignment for Deliveries
Last updated: April 7, 2026
Learn how driver assignment works and what to expect when waiting for a driver to be assigned to your delivery.
Nash does not directly assign drivers to deliveries. Instead, delivery providers release jobs to their driver pools, and drivers independently choose which deliveries to accept.
When Drivers Are Typically Assigned
Most providers assign drivers 10-15 minutes before the scheduled pickup time
Some providers may assign drivers 5-10 minutes before pickup
For scheduled deliveries, drivers are not assigned hours in advance
How Driver Assignment Works
Your delivery is sent to a delivery provider (such as Uber, Roadie, or Stuart).
The provider releases the job to their driver pool before the pickup time.
Drivers can accept or decline jobs at their discretion.
Once a driver accepts, they will be assigned and shown in your portal.
What to Do If No Driver Is Assigned
Wait until the pickup window begins, as this is when most drivers accept deliveries.
Monitor your delivery status in the portal for updates.
Contact Nash support if no driver is assigned 10-15 minutes after the pickup time has started.
Notes
Driver availability can be affected by peak hours, weather, or limited drivers in your area
Adding a tip to your delivery can help incentivize drivers to accept longer distance orders
For long-distance deliveries, some providers like Roadie have a 3-hour service level agreement to complete the entire delivery process
If you need immediate pickup, you can request to change your delivery from scheduled to ASAP through Nash support
