Add notes to a route
Last updated: October 2, 2026
A route note is a short piece of free text attached to a route — a gate code that changed, a driver swap you agreed by phone, the reason one stop was left for last. Anyone who opens the route afterward sees it, with your name and the time you wrote it, so what you know about the route doesn't live only in your head or in a chat thread.
Note
Route notes aren't turned on for every organization, and they live on the route panel in Execute, which isn't available to everyone either. Availability varies by organization — reach out to Nash for access.
Add a note
- In Execute, open the route you want to leave a note on. Its detail panel opens with a row of tabs: Stops, Activity, and Notes.
- Select Notes.
- Type your note in the box at the bottom of the tab. Until you start typing, it reads "Add a note for this route…".
- Select Add note.
Nash confirms with "Note added to route" and your note joins the list. A note can be up to 2,000 characters — the counter under the box shows how much you've used — and Add note stays unavailable while the box is empty or over the limit.
Read a route's notes
The Notes tab shows a count beside its name as soon as a route has at least one note, so you can tell there's something to read before you open it. Inside, notes are listed oldest first, each with the name of the person who wrote it and when. A route with none reads "No notes on this route yet".
What a note doesn't do
Notes are append-only. Once a note is added it can't be edited or deleted, so write it the way you'd want it read later — and if something changes, add a new note rather than looking for a way to correct the old one.
Adding a note doesn't notify anyone, and it doesn't change the route, its stops, or its timing. It's a record for the people working the route in Nash, nothing more.
Availability
Route notes depend on your organization having both Execute and route notes turned on. If you don't see a Notes tab on a route's panel, availability varies by org — reach out to Nash.
