Reassign a delivery
Last updated: August 16, 2026
When a delivery already has a provider but you need a different one — no driver picked it up, or you want another carrier — reassign it. On your own fleet, you can reassign the driver instead. Reassigning is available on live deliveries, not just ones waiting to go out.
Reassign to another provider
- Open the delivery and choose Reassign Provider from its action menu (or the Reassign Provider button on the full details page).
- Confirm. Two options are offered: - Cancel existing deliveries — on by default, so the current task is canceled as you reassign. Leave it on unless you deliberately want to run the old and new attempts side by side. - Edit delivery window — optionally set a new pickup or drop-off time as part of the reassignment. See update a delivery time.
- Select Reassign Provider.
Reassigning removes the dispatch strategy from that delivery, and any automatic-reassignment rules stop applying to it. It also resets the delivery to a fresh, unassigned task — so after reassigning, pick the new provider with Assign Provider.
Reassign the driver
On your own fleet, choose Reassign Driver to move the delivery to a different one of your drivers, then pick from the list. If the delivery has already been picked up, Nash asks you to confirm, because reassigning at that point notifies the merchant that the driver changed — so use it for real changes like a vehicle breakdown, not routine tweaks.
If no provider or driver has taken a delivery at all, see handle delayed driver assignment.
