Update a delivery time

Last updated: September 22, 2026

There's no separate "change the time" button. Moving a delivery's pickup or drop-off time re-quotes the delivery, so you do it from the same place you'd move it to a different provider — the Reassign Provider flow — with an option to set a new time along the way.

Change the time

  1. Open the delivery and start Reassign Provider — the button in the action bar on the full details page, or the Reassign Provider option in the delivery's action menu once a provider is assigned.
  2. Turn on Edit delivery window.
  3. Choose the delivery mode: - Now — an immediate delivery; you don't set times. - Scheduled — set the pickup and drop-off windows, and confirm the timezone.
  4. Select Reassign Provider to apply the new window.

Because this runs through reassignment, it re-quotes the delivery and can move it to a different provider — after you confirm, you'll pick from the new quotes. You can also cancel the existing delivery from the same panel so you don't end up running both. For the full reassignment flow, see reassign a delivery.

Reassigning doesn't re-run your dispatch strategy

This is the part that surprises people. A reassignment gets you a fresh set of quotes, but it stops there and waits for you — it doesn't pick a provider on its own, even when the delivery has a dispatch strategy and that strategy would normally dispatch automatically.

The strategy isn't lost. It stays on the delivery and still ranks the new quotes, so the providers it favors are marked and sorted to the top of the list. It just won't make the choice for you: a manually reassigned delivery is yours to dispatch.

So after changing the time, expect to pick a quote yourself.

If you want the strategy to choose

When you'd rather have the strategy select the provider the way it does on a new order, duplicate the delivery instead of reassigning it:

  1. Duplicate the delivery and set the new time on the copy.
  2. Submit with Submit & Dispatch, so the copy goes out under its dispatch strategy rather than waiting for a manual pick.
  3. Cancel the original so you don't run both.

The copy preselects the original's dispatch strategy by default, though whether the strategy carries over is org-configurable — check it before you submit.

Note

Use this route when the strategy choosing for you is the point — a long-distance order that needs to shop a particular set of providers, for instance. For a simple time change where you're happy to pick the provider, reassignment is fewer steps.

Good to know

  • Scheduled times can't be in the past, and each window's start has to come before its end.
  • Updating the time isn't available for batch deliveries.
  • If a delivery is too far along to reassign, Nash will tell you and point you to support.
  • Changing the time changes which providers will quote at all, since required notice is measured against the pickup time — see dispatch a scheduled order.

For smaller changes that don't touch the time — the tip, package value, or item count — use edit a delivery instead.
