Send your first delivery

Last updated: August 3, 2026

This is the happy path: create a delivery, decide when it should move, see what it costs, hand it off, and find it again once it's running. It's enough to get your first job through the portal end to end — the deeper how-tos for each step are linked along the way.

Before you start

You'll need the basics for the job: pickup and drop-off addresses, a contact name and phone number at each stop, and anything specific to the package — item count, notes, a reference ID, value, or a driver tip. If the job will go to an outside delivery network, make sure your account is set up to work with one; if it'll run on your own fleet, make sure a driver is available to take it.

Create a delivery

In the sidebar, select + Create, then choose Delivery. Enter the pickup and drop-off details — addresses, business or recipient names, phone numbers, and any instructions — then fill in the package details: items count, notes, reference ID, value, and driver tip if relevant. Choose whether the delivery is Now or Scheduled (more on that below), and specify a vehicle size or special handling (like photo proof of delivery) if the job needs it.

You can optionally choose a dispatch strategy from the dropdown before you submit. If you skip it, the job is created but not yet handed off — you'll dispatch it manually in a later step. When everything looks right, select Submit. The job now appears on the Deliveries page.

For the full field-by-field walkthrough, see Create a Delivery Manually.

Now vs. scheduled

Every delivery is either Now or Scheduled:

  • Now dispatches immediately once you submit — use it for same-day or last-minute work where you need a driver moving right away.

  • Scheduled sets a future pickup and drop-off window — use it for planned work like catering or inventory coordination. You'll set a time zone and at least one time constraint (a pickup start time, a drop-off end time, or both — both is recommended for the most accurate estimate). If the pickup time you enter is essentially now (within a few minutes), Nash treats it as a Now delivery instead.

For the full detail on scheduling, see Schedule a Delivery for Future Pick-Up Time.

Review quotes

Before you dispatch, you can see what the job will cost. On the Deliveries page, select the three-dot menu on the job's row and choose Delivery Details. On the Delivery Details page, select the Quotes tab (next to the Provider tab) to see every available quote for the job. Select Show unavailable to see options that aren't eligible, and hover over a status to see why.

Dispatch it

Dispatching is the same conceptual step either way — you hand the job off from the same place — but the details differ depending on who's carrying it out. If you already chose a dispatch strategy when you created the job, it may already be handled.

To send it to an outside delivery network: from the job's row on the Deliveries page, select Assign Provider in the right-hand column. You'll see the eligible options on the left, each with its fee — select the refresh icon if they look stale. Select Show unavailable to see options that were excluded and hover to see why. Pick the one you want, then confirm the delivery ID, price, and estimated time of arrival before you select Assign Provider at the bottom to complete the handoff.

To run it on your own fleet: assign the job to one of your drivers instead of a provider — you won't see a fee or quote comparison, since that step is specific to outside networks.

Find and track it

Select Deliveries on the left to see delivery history — it shows today's deliveries by default, so use the date selector if you're looking for something else. Each row shows the pickup and drop-off locations, status, and creation time; search or filter to narrow a long list.

Select the three-dot menu on a row for two views: Delivery Panel for a quick summary in a side drawer, or Delivery Details for the full page — provider info, package details, locations, status timeline, and real-time map tracking while the job is active.
