Create and configure a driver group
Last updated: August 16, 2026
Create a driver group from the Driver Groups page, then open it to configure eligibility, optimization, and driver-app behavior. This is roster administration — assigning a group's drivers to a live delivery or route happens in Operate, not here (see manually assign a delivery and edit a route).
Note
Fleet and this page are gated. Availability varies by organization — if you don't see it, reach out to Nash. When your access is scoped to specific driver groups, you can edit only the membership of groups you belong to; the rest of the configuration is read-only and creating a group is unavailable.
Create a group
Select the Create button (with the +) in the top right, or Create group from the empty state. This opens a drawer where you set the group up:
- Fleet Name — the group's name (required).
- External ID — your own reference for the group in outside systems (optional).
- Supported Features / Package Requirements — the package requirements this group can handle, used when Nash checks whether the group is eligible for a delivery. You can add custom values.
- Pickup Store Locations — the store locations the group picks up from, also used for eligibility.
Select Add Driver Group to save. If your organization has more than one internal provider, a Provider selector appears first so you can choose which one the group belongs to.
The very first internal group you create also sets up your internal fleet behind the scenes; in that case the drawer is titled Create Fleet and the button reads Create Fleet. After that, new groups are added under the fleet you already have.
Configure a group
Select a group's row on the Driver Groups page to open its drawer. Make your changes and select Save. The drawer is organized into tabs; Features and Optimization hold the settings-dense controls, each defined in full in driver group settings.
General
The group's core details: its Name and External ID, a Customer Support Contact phone number shared with drivers for customer inquiries, and Driver App Settings — overrides that change how the driver app behaves for this group. Settings you don't override keep the org-level value from Fleet settings (My Fleet).
Drivers
The group's membership. Use Add Drivers to add drivers to the group, and remove them from the same list. The drivers themselves are managed on the Drivers page; see add and edit a driver.
Vehicles
Link vehicles to the group under Add Vehicles. This tab appears when vehicle-based dispatch is enabled for your organization. The vehicles themselves are managed on the Vehicles page; see manage vehicles.
Features
Where you set the group's delivery eligibility (geography, operating hours, and package requirements), how deliveries are published to drivers, and proof-of- delivery requirements. Every control is defined in driver group settings.
Optimization
Where you set how the group's routes are built — dispatch behavior, per-route limits, start and end depots, and driver breaks. Every control is defined in driver group settings.
Duplicate or remove a group
The drawer header carries two more actions:
- Duplicate — clone the group under a new name to build a variant without starting over.
- Remove — delete the group. A Delete Driver Group confirmation appears first.
If you close the drawer with unsaved changes, a Discard Changes prompt lets you keep editing or discard your edits.
